FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
North Gate Vineyard Artist-in-Residence Program
Brita Frost is Newly Appointed as Artist-in-Residence
Purcellville, Virginia – February 2, 2015 – North Gate Vineyard is pleased to announce the appointment of local Round Hill resident Brita Frost as the program’s newest Artist-in-Residence. Brita will be hosting a public reception showing her work at North Gate Vineyard on Saturday, February 7th, from 4PM to 8PM. Brita’s show, entitled “Efflorescence”, features stunning photography of flowers and floral inspired imagery from her travels around Loudoun County and around the world. Her works of art will be on display thru April 30th in North Gate Vineyard’s Tasting Room.
Brita is an Inupiat Eskimo, who loves her Eskimo heritage. Her father was in the Air Force at Elmendorf when he met her mother in Anchorage, Alaska. She was born in Mobile, Alabama and when she was seven, her family moved back to Anchorage where her passion for photography began. “One day I took a picture of my parents and felt an immediate connection with the camera. I couldn’t wait to see the memory that I had captured forever.” said Brita.
Brita met her husband, Mike, in 1986, and were married in 1988. They have three beautiful daughters and one grandson. They currently live in Northern Virginia, and her day job as an administrative assistant allows her to devote time to her true passion…photography. Her mission: To inspire creativity through the beauty of flowers.
The North Gate Vineyard Artist-in-Residence program was created to support local artists by providing a venue to show their artwork in a public, formal setting. The program also provides a facility for the artists to conduct other art-related activities such as educational seminars, instructional classes, or in-depth lectures on their artwork or creative process. Displaying their work in such a way provides flexibility for the artist to work at and achieve certain goals they may have in their profession. “Mark and I have always been supporters of local art, music, and theatre. This program provides us one more avenue to contribute to our community.” stated Vicki Fedor, co-owner of North Gate Vineyard. “We’ve known Brita for years, and are so happy to see her photography hobby ‘blossom’ into a more formal business where she can share her eye for natural beauty with others.” All of her pieces are available for purchase, are signed and numbered, and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
North Gate Vineyard is located on 26 acres at the base of the Short Hill Mountain, just north of Purcellville in Loudoun County, Virginia. Their first vineyard was planted in 2002 and commercial wine production began in 2007. North Gate currently
produces 5,000 cases of wine annually, including its award-winning estate grown Viognier, Petit Verdot, and Meritage blend.
