Live Music - Moon Music

Native Loudoun County trio, Moon Music, forged a partnership over six years ago, with a signature nuanced three-part harmony vocal sound, backed by beautiful piano, and acoustic guitar. Jim Moon, acclaimed pianist and guitarist had been playing in classic rock band, Mr. Jimmy, alongside fellow musician, Mary Alyce. The two then joined forces again, along with Deb Dalby, singer and percussionist, to complete the Moon Music trio. Moon Music is known for their original arrangements, of “unlikely covers” for a vocal trio – songs by Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Journey and many more.

Moon Music has headlined local events, and fits comfortably in all scenarios, from private parties, vineyards and tasting rooms, weddings and anniversaries, to pubs, backyard events, restaurants, and just about any spot you can squeeze in a couple of instruments and a triad of long, lean folk! Their CD “You’ll Dream About Me” is available on iTunes and CD Baby. For more information on Moon Music, visit www.moonmusicband.com

DC’s Crys Matthews blends Americana, folk, jazz, blues, bluegrass and funk into a bold, complex performance steeped in traditional melodies and punctuated by honest, original lyrics. Having been compared to everyone from Toshi Reagon to Tracy Chapman to Ruthie Foster, Matthews’ eclectic infusion of genres has won her honorable mentions at the 2013 and 2014 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest and extensive radio play from Woman of Substance radio to WTJU-Charlottesville and WMRA-Harrisonburg to KBOO-Portland.

Equally at home in an acoustic listening room as she is on stage at large music festivals, Matthews has quickly gathered a loyal following on the east coast playing such prestigious venues as Jammin’ Java, The Hamilton and Busboys and Poets. Matthews’ festival and showcase roster has included SXSW, the 40th Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival, Folk Alliance International, 30A Songwriters Festival, Northeast Regional Folk Alliance and many more.

Live Music - Emma Rowley with Phil Kuhn: Gentle Jazz Live

Emma Rowley is a 23 year old recording artist, producer and songwriter from the Leesburg/Purcellville area of Northern Virginia. After spending four years in Nashville, TN as a full time student, she gradutaed from Belmont University in May of 2017 with a Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music concentrating on voice and songwriting.

Before entering into the world of popular music, Emma was cast in two Broadway shows in New York City as a teenager (Lupone Gypsy – 2008 & Bye Bye Birdie – 2009). These opportunities opened the door for her to perform as a guest of the New York Pops Orchestra at Carnegie Hall on two occasions. This was just the beginning of her professional career. After discovering her knack for songwriting, Emma began pursuing country music, leading her to work with producers Dan Hagen and Bryan White in Nashville. Today, she focuses on her newly developing pop style as a full time musical artist.

Emma will be returning to the Northern Virginia music scene during the summer of 2017 after spending the month of May singing on her second run at The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. She is excited to connect with more music lovers and local businesses. Her entrepreneurial spirit drives her in building a brand from the ground up through real relationships with real people who share her passion for music.

Live Music - Annie Stokes

Annie Stokes is an indie-folk musician from Virginia. Raised in the nation’s capital on an eclectic mixture of musical theater, bluegrass, and classic Americana, her music is a fusion of city sounds and country soul. Although playing guitar only began as a hobby, soon her hometown was buzzing about “that girl who sounds like Jewel.” Annie’s lilting voice, poetic and introspective lyrics, and fingerpicking style draw listeners in with their rootsy and authentic feel. She’s found, after years of making music and connecting with audiences, that when the artist prioritizes the song and the human experience that it’s based on, everything else falls into place.

Accompanying herself on an assortment of instruments, and with a talented band of players backing her up, Annie’s extensive performance background includes street fairs, cafes, vineyards, bars, breweries, concert series (Buncearoo, Her Roots, Coffee and Dreadnoughts), nightclubs (Jammin Java and DC9), indie music festivals (Main Street Music Fest, Untitled Music Fest, and Moon Valley Music Festival), and recently the Sylvan Theater Stage on the National Mall. She has also had the distinct pleasure of opening up for The Hunts, Elliot BROOD, The Vespers, Callaghan, Marie Digby, and Paul Pfau. She released her first EP, Ponygirl, in December 2014, and is releasing her first full length album on February 19, 2016 with Ponygirl Records and Blue Hippo Recordings.
