FAQ

Do you have food for sale in the Tasting Room?

Yes.  We have an assortment of cheeses, cured meats, several spreads and warm baguettes or crackers.  View the current menu here. We’re constantly working with suppliers to bring you more local products at a fair price. We also have optional food or chocolate pairings to compliment our wine tastings.

May we bring our own food and beverages?

According to the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, consumption of any alcoholic beverage other than wine produced by North Gate Vineyard is strictly prohibited, anywhere on the property, including the parking lot.  You are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy while visiting. However, outside food must be enjoyed on our covered patio area.

I’d like to bring a large party in for a tasting. What are your policies?

Groups (of 8 to 20 guests) are welcome at North Gate during regular business hours. Reservations are required at least two days in advance by phone or by email to guarantee accommodations.  View our full group reservation policy here. Please contact us with questions about larger groups.  For information about private rentals, please see our venue rental policies.

Do you offer tours of the winery or vineyard?

It is best to try to schedule tours in advance, but if we are not too busy, one of our knowledgeable staff would be happy to show you around and answer questions about our green building, production area, or vineyard.

Are you “dog friendly”?

Yes, but we do not allow dogs in the tasting room. Leashed, well-behaved dogs are allowed on the patio. If staffing permits, we will try to accommodate a tasting on the patio for you, but we currently are not set up to do tastings outside on a regular basis.

Do you allow smoking?

No. Our entire property is a smoke-free environment. This also includes vaping. Air quality is an important aspect of our LEED certification.

Can you accommodate wheelchairs?

Yes. North Gate is completely accessible to our guests in wheelchairs from the front walkway, to the restrooms, bar and patio. Feel free to pull up to the front walkway to drop off guests before proceeding to the parking lot.
